Cape Bridgewater Coastal Camp

At Cape Bridgewater we did a range of activities that included:

Abseiling

You are at the top of a 27 meter cliff and you have to try and abseil off it until you are twelve meters down. It is pretty scary when you start but once you get the hang of it and get to the bottom part where you float down. It is pretty cruisy.

There is a rope that you have to hold onto to lower yourself down. You give the rope a bit of room and then you walk down until the rope has no room anymore and then you let the loose go but still be ready to grab onto it if you start falling.

Geo Caching

Geo Caching is a game were you use a GPS tracker to try and find tags. You start the game by putting in a code and then following the GPS tracker to find another tag that will have a new code to put back in your GPS tracker.

The prize that we got for this was a bag of Mars bars. There are ten tags and you have to get all of them to get the prize.

Snorkeling

This was probably one of the best activities for me personally because I really enjoyed swimming with seals because they always tried to creep up behind you so when you looked they would be there. You were allowed to pat the seals although no-one really could because the seals were too quick.

We had to take a boat to get to the snorkeling place and the boat was probably one of the best experiences I have ever had. Apart from getting wet we had heaps of air time.

Surfing

Surfing was really fun. You got the chance to catch a few waves and stand up because the waves weren’t that big. It was really fun watching people who swore that they couldn’t do it stand up. I have been surfing a few times so the waves weren’t that good for advanced but not everyone was advanced and they were good for the beginners.

Caving

Caving was fun but some people didn’t think so. It was a bit harder for the tall people when they were trying to get through the small gaps and slim walls. I really enjoyed this. If everybody turned their lights off then the whole cave went black.

Sand boarding

Sand boarding was fun although it was hard work getting the board up the hill just to have a quick ride down a very steep sand dune. It was fun but it was kind of scary when you can’t see the bottom because it was so steep. You had one go at halfway up the hill and if you completed that without being too scared you could go up the full way.

Free Time at the Beach

This was probably one of the most fun experiences that I ever had. Some of our group made a huge soccer field made completely out of seaweed. Some kids in another group made a huge sign on the ground saying MPPS in huge letters.
